Today was the best day of the Leadership Institute by far. I was lucky enough to attend some great presentations. However, my favorite one was about recruiting, motivating, and retaining volunteers. Erika Flora (blog.erikaflora.com) gave the presentation and it ignited some motivation for me again. She had us go around the room and talk about what volunteering to PMI has meant to us and what specific value that we have gained. Until someone makes you sit and think about it, sometimes it can go unnoticed. That exercise really helped me!
The other item that she gave us was a handout of research that her team in Phoenix had completed. It was some internet research that looked at all of the PMI Components across the country and captured the ideas that they thought would bring value to their chapter. It was 10 pages of solid gold. Everyone who received a copy couldn't stop talking about the value that it provided.
I came out of the presentation with a million ideas and was on fire with them! My poor board got flooded with e-mails from me afterwards.
So a special thank you to Erika Flora! Great presentation!
